Just in time for Halloween, the Glass Eye Pix crew has released the full first season of their popular audio drama series, Tales From Beyond The Pale, in a brand-new, special edition box set. Complete with original artwork for each episode, as well as complete cast listings and a brief creator statement for each episode, this new set perfectly and compactly captures the playfully ghoulish tone that co-creators Larry Fessenden and Glenn McQuaid envisioned for this experiment in audio terror.

Over ten episodes, ranging from classic ghost tales, to 50’s inspired creature features, sci-fi serials, to today’s more sinister and brutal explorations into body horror, this first season provides a wide variety of content for the average genre fan to dive into. Not only featuring top-level writing but a fantastic cast including performers such as Vincent D’Onofrio, Ron Perlman, Shea Whigham, Amy Seimetz, James LeGros, Angus Scrimm, Tales proves that attention to story and character can generate enough scares via sound alone.

Setting the appropriate tone for each episode is modern horror impresario Larry Fessenden himself; known for such films as Wendigo, I Sell The Dead, and The Last Winter as well as fostering the talents of new voices like Ti West, Fessenden provides the perfect touch of ham, while intimating a deeper, more sinister purpose. All in all, these ten episodes, roughly an hour a piece, can be enjoyed any time of the year. The only caveat being, it may not be too wise to listen late in the night…
